For Active Directory server, there are two types of Administrator account: the Local Administrator account and the DOMAIN Administrator account. The Local Administrator account is also refered as DSRM (Directory Services Restore Mode) Administrator, which can only be used to log in to Directory Service Recovery Mode. To log in to Normail Mode, you must use the DOMAIN Administrator account instead.
Correspondingly, AD Password Reset 1.7 provides two options for resetting Administrator password: Reset Local Administrator password and Reset Domain Administrator password. The first option is designed for resetting Local Administrator password and Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator password, and the second option is intended for restting DOMAIN Administrator password. Let's say you are going to reset DOMAIN Administrator password. Click the "Reset Domain Administrator password" button, the program will automatically search the Active Directory database (ntds.dit) and display all AD user accounts. Select the DOMAIN Administrator account, then click the "Reset" button, the password will be changed to Password123. Click the "Exit" button to reboot your computer and Now you are able to log in to your DOMAIN Administrator account with the new password: Password123.
