  • (1888PressRelease) May 25, 2013 - Following on from recent success in securing Managed Telephony services for the Tasmanian Government, the Anittel National Service Desk located in Albury is expanding by a further 4 positions. The 5 year contact with Tasmanian Ministers Department will see Anittel roll out managed telephony services to approximately 45,000 desktops. The minimum value for the contract over 5 years is $17 million, but it is anticipated to be as high as $45 million if the full term extension options are exercised.

First level technical support for the network will be provided by the Albury Service desk team, which will be expanding by a further four IT support engineers to cater for the additional workload.

Anittel Regional Manager, Andrew Cottrill said "Nationally, Anittel has 17 branches and over 200 employees. Anittel's Albury branch has been selected to host the national Help Desk, as we have a highly capable and professional team"
"Albury Wodonga is especially suited, as we have an excellent local talent pool to draw from with quality Information Technology graduates coming out of the local universities" These graduates are a great fit, as coming out of the regional system they really fit our employment profile, with relevant knowledge, commitment to the role, and excellent customer service skills"

"This will expand our local Anittel workforce to 20 staff, largely made up of computing and IT specialists. As the graduates become fully accredited, we have further opportunities for them to move into senior technical support roles managing complex local and national client networks. With this degree of local expertise and future talent pool, Anittel is well positioned to continue expanding its services to local and national clients."

Anittel Managing Director and Executive Chairman, Peter Kazacos commented, "Our strategy to invest in network infrastructure solutions is paying off. This deal provides a platform for further growth in Tasmania and in other states. It will also boost our plan to make Cisco Hosted UC a highly attractive solution that is available to all clients across regional and metropolitan Australia."

As the majority of the infrastructure to provide the managed voice services, the Cisco Unified Communications Call Manager platform is hosted in the Anittel National Network, this service will be increasing made available to Anittel business clients across Australia, saving the need to purchase and own 'on-premise' Business PABX systems. This is a major advantage to multi-site businesses, as with the Anittel Cisco Managed Voice service, full PABX functionality is provided to each handset by the network. This means all sites are on a single virtual system, regardless of where they are physically located. Voice Over IP technology provides huge cost savings over traditional telephone lines, including free inter-site calling. The financial advantages are further extended as businesses can just pay for the handsets they use on a monthly basis, with no capital outlay.
