Analog Backplane AP8a from bmcm: Connection Technology for 5B Modules and Sensors
Measurement specialist, BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm), releases a new version of its 5B backplane for signal conditioning applications. Comfortable sensor connection, modularity, and ease of use are the key features of the AP8a.
- (1888PressRelease) March 03, 2011 - Maisach/Munich/Germany - The compact AP8a board from bmcm provides eight slots for measuring amplifiers and converters in 5B standard. Due to the variety of available 5B modules, even the most specific measurement tasks can be realized simply and individually.

The analog backplane is particularly suitable for data acquisition in the industrial sector, for example on test stands. It can be mounted to a DIN rail.
As the AP8a does not necessarily require a 5V power supply as commonly used, but features a wide-range power supply with a 9-40V in addition, it can be used for a wide range of applications.
The amplifier outputs are available at a multipoint connector to be attached to the inputs of a PC data acquisition system. A pluggable spring clamp connection (available as accessory) is used for signal connection allowing for the sensor connection to be prepared separately. On site, the terminal blocks only have to be plugged in the relevant input connector of the AP8a.
Since most of the 5B measuring converters feature galvanic isolation, the channels are isolated from each other and from the data acquisition and control system protecting the whole system against high potentials and interferences.
The module installation is so simple (plug in - screw tightly - ready) that a replacement is quickly done and the system can be adapted to a new measurement task at any time.
To equip the AP8a, BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm) offers a great choice of 5B measuring amplifiers and function modules.

The analog backplane is also available as a 2-channel version AP2 for all needing less channels.
