Program Aims To Keep Kids "Off The Streets".
- Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) February 03, 2016 - The Anaheim School District P21 Mentorship Program is teaming with Caterina's Club to launch a first-in-the-nation Hospitality Academy aimed at students grades 7-12 who may be interested in exploring careers in restaurants, hotels and other tourism related industries. The inaugural class will gather for the first time at the popular Anaheim White House restaurant (887 South Anaheim Blvd) on Thursday, February 25 at 2 p.m. In addition to the students joining owner Sir Bruno Serato on stage to take part in helping him prepare a dish, Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait will orient them on the program.
The 12-week Hospitality Program will be offered each semester and teach select students food preparation, service, marketing, nutrition and customer service skills. It will conclude with a graduation ceremony at the Anaheim White House on Thurs, May 12 at which time students will showcase their learned skills before friends and family.
"We are providing a comprehensive program that encourages career readiness for the future leaders of Orange County," said Tait. "Our vision is to provide an extended learning opportunity that will keep teens engaged and off of the streets when they're not in school."
Those serious about pursuing careers in the kitchen will be directed to the CulinaryLab, a forward-focused cooking school where timeless techniques meet cutting edge curriculum and real-world training. In addition, the Anaheim White House will offer internships to qualified students.
Additional Academy partners include Marriott Hotels, Visit Anaheim, The Misfit Chef, Cooks Chapel, Price Water House Coopers and St. Jude Medical Center.
