Anaheim Hands Sir Bruno Serato Key to the City
Humanitarian Recognized For Feeding So Cal's Hungry Children Just As His Restaurant Reopens.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2018 - Chef/restaurateur Sir Bruno Serato was handed the Key to the City of Anaheim by Mayor Tom Tait at a recent ceremony. The presentation comes right on the heels of the reopening of Serato’s Anaheim White House restaurant that was burned to the ground last year. He was recognized for his humanitarian work, business and community contributions and serving as a shining beacon of light for the city.
“I’m so thrilled to earn the key to the city, as I consider Anaheim my second home,” said Serato, who resides in Huntington Beach. “The community has been so good to me and without their support, Caterina’s Club would not be able to help as many people in need as we do.”
In 2005, he launched the nonprofit, Caterina’s Club, which today feeds nearly 4,000 hungry children daily. In addition, his organization helps “motel families” move into permanent housing and its Hospitality Program diverts high school students from gangs and other bad influences by teaching them about the food, hospitality and service industries.
For his humanitarian work, Serato has earned international publicity including profiles in People Magazine, “CBS Evening News,” “NBC Nightly News,” CNN and newspapers and magazines the world over. Among his many honors is being named a CNN Hero, being knighted by the Italian government, receiving a papal blessing from Pope Francis and earning a humanitarian award on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
