An Insightful seminar on Obesity Management by MediaMedic Communications
A unique seminar on the 'Technology and Interventions in the Management of Obesity' was organized by MediaMedic Communications Pvt. College of Home Science at Matunga to attend a unique seminar on the 'Technology and Interventions in the Management of Obesity' organized by MediaMedic Communications Pvt. Ltd in association with Quaker Oats . This seminar provided a platform for the students of Nutrition and Dietetics to get familiar with the novel and technologically advanced procedures in managing obesity. Some well known personalities from the field of nutrition and health science presented their studies and shared their experiences at this seminar.
Ms. Sonal Modi, a nutritionist and a diabetes educator, spoke on some interesting factors responsible for obesity in India. She elaborated on the differences in the international and Indian standards for obesity and how genetic factors play a key role. Much importance was given to the need of wisely using the array of recent tools in nutrition strategies. Finally, she concluded by describing the components which are integral in managing obesity effectively.
Geetanjali Chitale, chief nutritionist and dietician at MediaMedic Communications followed up with a presentation on 'Technological Procedures in Obesity Management' which highlighted the differences between traditional and current approaches. Some fascinating insights were provided on the techniques of measuring body composition and latest technologies used for weight loss. An informed perspective was given to the budding nutritionists in the audience about the applications of the latest technologies.
At length, a light and an interactive session was held by Ankita Marwaha, General Manger Nutritional Science and Communication - PEPSICO, where she presented some prevalence studies on obesity in India and provided some interesting data on Quaker Oats, who were the sponsor of this seminar, stressing on the benefits it will provide to the Indian population, she gave an account of how oats can curb some cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity.
