Amerisewn - Twenty Employees Participating in English as a Second Language Course
Amerisewn receives a grant to offer English as a second language to employees; all of whom are participating.
- Providence-Fall River-Warwick, RI-MA (1888PressRelease) November 08, 2017 - More than 20 employees are enrolled in an English as a second language course being offered by Amerisewn. The cut and sew manufacturer received a grant from the Governor’s Workforce Board of Rhode Island called the Incumbent Worker Training Program. President of the company, John Caito III, applied for this grant to offer the ESL course to employees as a means to improve communication and relationships in the workplace.
The ESL course takes place from October 25, 2017 until January 25, 2018, twice a week for an hour and a half. The first forty-five minutes are paid working hours, leaving the other half voluntary. Every non-English speaking employee signed up for the 36-hour course. Caito says, “This just shows our employees’ commitment and their willingness to learn and grow within the company.” While currently employing 38, the company is covering half the cost of the classes for its participants. Amerisewn and their team look forward to seeing what the English as a second language course will contribute in the long run.
