American Society Of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons Celebrates Five Year Anniversary
The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons(ASBPS) is celebrating its fifth year. Its main goal is to provide guidance for those patients that have lost significant amounts of weight through their own efforts or through weight-loss surgery. After bariatric surgery, diabetes, heart disease and blood pressure usually disappear, but a secondary problem, the excess, loose and sagging skin remains.

There is also an availability to ask plastic surgeons questions and obtain a referral to ASBPS members.
"Our Society has continued to grow and expand since its inception," said Dr. Edward Domanskis, President of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons. The number of bariatric plastic surgery procedures has increased dramatically, especially arm and body lifts, according to the latest statistics of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons(ASPS). "This has paralleled the increased number of bariatric procedures performed as reported by the American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery," continued Dr.Domanskis.
The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons was established by plastic surgeons that specialize in body contouring surgery to meet the needs of these patients that have lost significant amounts of weight through non-surgical means such as diet or exercise or through the various bariatric procedures such as gastric bypass and lap band surgery. ASBPS also helps guide these patients to find a knowledgeable and experienced plastic surgeon to help them.
Its members are all certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and most are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery or the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
