An American Soccer Dream is a fictional story of the United States soccer program, picking up in July 2010 at the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup and taking the reader through the reengineering of the program, the qualification process for the 2014 World Cup and the team's participation in the competition in June and July of 2014 in Brazil. Using the published excerpt, prospective readers can get a sense of the ebb and flow of the work, the literary style and the basic storyline by reading the first page of each of the book's sections.

The author, Ken Jones, he serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Xerdict Group LLC, a collaboration software company. In his spare time he is a devotee of the beautiful game.
