American Pop Artist Zahra Universe Teams Up with International Star Wes Madiko to Break Down Borders
Zahra Universe (US) and Wes Madiko (Africa) have teamed up to create a worldwide music dance sensation "Sela-Sela (Dance Together)", sung in both English and Bantou, to spread a message of unity.

And that is exactly why Zahra Universe and Wes Madiko are so proud of their union, teaming up to create world music and spread a message of love beyond borders. Zahra Universe, a white American pop artist, and Wes Madiko, an African man with origins from Cameroon, had a chance meeting in Paris the winter of 2010 that was arranged by Zahra's record label Arusa Music Entertainment. "It was a very casual meeting," recalls Zahra, "Wes brought his native instrument, the kalimba, and we just started singing together…hitting it off instantly!". And the rest is history! That initial meeting laid down the framework for recording their first single together entitled "Sela-Sela (Dance Together)". Using a strong rhythmic dance beat, catchy lyrics and hook in both English and Bantou, and a team of producers from Los Angeles, they were able to create a strong dance song with international appeal. Both artists put their own personal touch on the song--Zahra with her piano notes and Wes with his melody on the kalimba. "We wanted a song to symbolize coming together and the joys of loving one another without borders," says Zahra of their writing process. Wes Madiko, also thrilled with the outcome of this union: "Zahra loves Africa and shows no fear…this project and working with her has really re-energized me as an artist".
Zahra and Wes will now continue their project with the music video filmed in between Cameroon and Paris, France and then hit the touring circuit for song promotion in a worldwide tour. They plan to do a number of humanitarian projects in relation with this project to spread the message of the joy of togetherness, unity, and breaking down borders.
