  • Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) January 13, 2011 - American House Senior Living Communities, a leading provider of senior residences in southeast Michigan, is the Title Presenting Sponsor for the new documentary "Our Vietnam Generation," premiering January 28 in Detroit at the Fox Theatre. The documentary focuses on the struggles experienced by Michigan Vietnam veterans once they returned home from the war.

Bob Gillette, the founder of American House, also is the film's co-executive producer.

"We, as Americans, owe our freedom to veterans, including Vietnam veterans," said Gillette. "This very moving and detailed film gives us the opportunity to say thank you and acknowledge these veterans, many of whom did not receive the heroes welcome they deserved upon their return home."

The film also will feature Michigan veterans who became successful leaders in the community and in business, yet still suffer painful memories or wounds from their time in Vietnam. Emmy award winner Keith Famie directed and produced the film.

The January 28 premiere event will feature the Michigan National Guard 26-piece band providing a special sound off to each branch of the military and the singing of the National Anthem by the Cornerstone Concert Choir. Paul W. Smith from WJR will emcee the evening. The Michigan Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will be on display in the Fox Theatre lobby.

The evening will conclude with a candlelight vigil to honor the 2,654 Michigan men and women who died for their country in Vietnam.

Tickets for the premiere of Our Vietnam Generation are $25 and $35 and are available through Ticketmaster, at the Fox Theatre Box Office or by calling 248-869-0096.
