Ambassador Vladimir Drobnjak to Speak at Adelphi University
Ambassador Drobnjak, permanent representative of Croatia to the United Nations, will speak about EU enlargement and its impact on a global, regional, and national scale.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) February 19, 2014 - Ambassador Vladimir Drobnjak, Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations, will give a lecture entitled "EU Enlargement - National, Regional, and Global Impact" on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. in the Alumni House at Adelphi University, 154 Cambridge Ave, Garden City, NY. The lecture is part of the Ambassador Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the International Leadership Coordinating Committee and the Department of Political Science.
In addition to serving as the Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations, Ambassador Drobnjak is also the chair of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission. He has previously served as the permanent representative of Croatia to the European Union.
Prior to his diplomatic career, Mr. Drobnjak worked as a United States and United Nations-based correspondent for Croatian daily newspapers Vjesnik and Večernji list, as well as for Croatian radio and television stations. In 1992, he was appointed Deputy Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations. In 1995, he was promoted to the rank of ambassador.
Ambassador Drobnjak received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University Of Zagreb School Of Law in Croatia. In 2013 he received the Order of Duke Trpimir, a Croatian order awarded to officials for merit in contributing to the integrity and international reputation of Croatia.
The lecture will focus on the EU enlargement process with attention to Croatia, other Balkan states, and Turkey. Ambassador Drobnjak will also discuss challenges for the EU both institutionally and globally.
