Alvin "Six Ward Pook" Williams Releases New Book
The New Orleans musician and entrepreneur is preparing to release his new book, "Breaking Through the Breaking Point", on August 29, 2014, the ninth anniversary of the day Hurricane Katrina cut a swath of destruction across.
- (1888PressRelease) August 27, 2014 - New Orleans, LA - "Breaking Through the Breaking Point" was written by veteran author Jay H. Pound and tells the story of Williams' life experiences, leading up to Hurricane Katrina. Williams and his family were among the thousands of people who endured Katrina and her aftermath, and in fact, he became the visual for the misery endured by many. The Williams family also endured horrific days in the Superdome, the place often described as Ground Zero for the misery suffered by many. Images of the stranded, ill and dehydrated people trapped in the city following the storm, are still plastered all over media reports. The cover of "Breaking Through the Breaking Point" speaks volumes, in that it depicts Williams carrying his young son in front of National Guardsmen, in an effort to find lifesaving medical treatment. Though it is an awful image, it is that same photograph that depicts Williams' courage, stamina and ability to overcome obstacles in such a way that it is inspirational to others.
"Breaking Through the Breaking Point" is an excellent read. The imagery and history added by Pound lays the groundwork for one to truly understand the struggle Williams endured during his time growing up in New Orleans. In a positive style, Pound grabs the reader's attention from the very first paragraph, taking them through the life and times of Alvin "Six Ward Pook" Williams. Pound describes the book as "relief from Katrina Fatigue", and that it is - it is a triumphant story that shows how one can achieve the seemingly impossible no matter how bad their situation might seem, and "break through the breaking point".
Williams continues to work on his music, through his company Big House ENT, and he has his hand in various other business ventures. Expect to see much more of Alvin "Six Ward Pook" in the near future.
