AltaTerra Research Presents Global Outlook and North American Report Card for Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariffs
Web conference features renewable energy policy expert Paul Gipe on feed-in tariff programs worldwide and new report, "Grading North American Feed-in Tariffs."
- (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2010 - PALO ALTO, California - AltaTerra Research is pleased to announce the web conference, "Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariffs: Global Outlook and North American Report Card," to be held Thursday, August 5th at 11:00 a.m. Pacific / 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
Over the course of 90 minutes, renewable energy feed-in tariff expert, Paul Gipe, will present findings from his report, "Grading North American Feed-in Tariffs," in which he evaluates North American feed-in tariff (FiT) programs and compares them to European FiT programs. Mr. Gipe will give a status update and perspective on the future of North American and global renewable energy feed-in tariff programs. He will also review the latest developments in European programs, including new successes and proposed solar rate cuts. There will be 30-50 minutes dedicated to answering questions from participants.
According to Mr. Gipe, "Feed-in tariffs are the single-most successful policy for the rapid development of renewable energy. It's only a matter of time before they are widely used in the United States and Canada."
Key topics to be addressed during the web conference include: status of feed-in tariff programs in Europe, stimulation of rapid renewable energy market growth by feed-in tariffs in Europe, current pace of renewable energy installations in countries with feed-in tariff programs, barriers and challenges to adoption and implementation of feed-in tariff programs in the U.S., and how North American feed-in tariff programs compare to European programs.
The session will be moderated by Jon Guice, renewable energy expert and head of research at AltaTerra. "Many people are familiar with the headlines coming out of Germany, Italy and other renewable energy programs in Europe. We're seeing rapid growth in the range of options for how alternative energy sources are supported in North America, expanding beyond rebates to include standard-offer contracts designed to rapidly scale the volume of installations," commented Dr. Guice. "There is also a lot of interesting policy experimentation happening in North America, such as in Ontario's new microFIT Program," he added.
