ALPHA ACADEMICS GEARS UP FOR FCAT EXAMS - CLINIC BEGINS APRIL 16TH. No one can help master the FCAT like Alpha Academics
Alpha Academics FCAT Clinics teach students, 3rd through 10th grade, the tools to master the test by understanding the content, expectations, and format of the exam. Clinics start February 20th.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) January 30, 2012 - The 2011-12 school year marks the first time that the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT) will target the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. South Florida students in grades 3-10 will begin FCAT testing on Monday, April 16th.
How many times have you heard parents and teachers gripe about the FCAT and blame it for students' shortfalls? Such statements are complete misunderstandings about the FCAT.
"The FCAT itself is a highly reliable and valid assessment that effectively measures how well students know the subject matter they are expected to know for their current grade level and are expected to demonstrate competency of their subject matter prior to being "promoted" to the next grade level" says Nicolas D. Matzirakis, President/CEO of Alpha Academics & Ace for Kids. "The questions on the FCAT are purposely and carefully created on-level for each subject/grade level. The material is not any harder nor is it beyond what a child should know for his or her subject and grade level. In fact, the FCAT is a fair assessment that students can master, once they truly understand the content, expectations, and format of the exam," Matzirakis declares.
"High quality teaching that focuses on the actual standards rather than teaching that focuses on the test itself is far more effective at helping students score at or above grade level on the FCAT. Despite its many critics, the FCAT has helped to increase accountability in our public school systems. Teachers should focus on the individual needs of their students rather than "teaching to the test" itself" states Matzirakis.
