Allied Wire & Cable Awards Student Peyton Lamkins $10,000 Scholarship
AWC awards college-bound student, Peyton Lamkins, a $10,000 scholarship towards her education at Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She is the daughter of Paula Lamkins, a member of the marketing department since 2009.
- Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) September 24, 2014 - Allied recently awarded 2014 Souderton Area High School graduate, Peyton Lamkins, a $10,000 scholarship towards her college education. The bright young woman will be attending the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, and will be studying the Fine Arts.
Lamkins will narrow her focus in her second year of school, where she has the option to select a more specific concentration. The Tyler School of Art offers many different areas of study including painting, drawing, metal work and package design.
The Annual AWC Scholarship began in 2011, and is given to one very deserving student each fall. The winner of the scholarship receives $2,500 per year for a four-year program, or $2,000 per year for a five-year program, totaling $10,000 over the course of the student's college career.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be a child of an employee who has been here at least three years, and is a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The student must also write a compelling essay explaining their application.
Peyton is the third student to receive this scholarship, and is very proud of her accomplishments. Not only is she a bright student, she also a talented athlete, ranking 4th at the TaeKwonDo Nationals, earning a spot as an alternate on the junior national team in 2010. Her hard work and dedication clearly carry over into both academics and athletics.
Peyton states, "In high school, you keep hearing that hard work and good grades may give you a shot at a scholarship. It doesn't seem real until you get lucky enough to have it happen to you!"
