Alliance University's CSR Hosts Cricket Match for the Visually Impaired
Cricket match hosted by alliance university CDR department for visually impaired players from a trust.
- (1888PressRelease) October 27, 2012 - To further its engagement with less-privileged and challenged sections of society and to show solidarity with their cause, Alliance University's CSR Department recently organized a cricket match between visually impaired players from the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Bangalore-an NGO dedicated to empowering visually impaired, disabled and underprivileged people through developmental initiatives and the host's University's cricketing team.
The objectives of this exhibition cricket match, which was inaugurated by the Honorable Chancellor, Alliance University, Dr. Madhukar Angur, were noble: kindling team spirit among those gifted with sight and the visually impaired; understanding the challenges involved in playing with the visually impaired in sports events; and supporting the event to promote awareness about the skills of the differently disabled in visible ways. The team from the Trust demonstrated great improvisation and skill in playing the cricket match, regaled the players with their mastery over game and overcame all odds to win the match by a good margin of runs.
