  • New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) November 01, 2016 - The Alliance for Affordable Energy (AAE or The Alliance) is a non-profit energy consumer and environmental advocacy organization. The annual "Lighting The Way" Gala (LTW) will be held, Thursday, November 17th at City Parks Pavilion of the Two Sisters, in New Orleans. Celebrating 31 years of service to Louisiana citizens, The Alliance advocates for fair, affordable and environmentally responsible energy practices and policy. Chief Executive Officer, Casey DeMoss, states, "Through our work, advocating for electric and gas utility customers, we estimate that we have saved Louisianans approximately, $4 billion on their utility bills since our beginning. This year's event will honor leaders who have stepped up to defend clean and affordable energy."

    The 2016 Lighting The Way Gala Honorees are:

    Additionally, The Alliance is working with its partners in the clean energy sector to give one "Lighting The Way" winner a sustainable "Green Home Makeover". The opportunity to receive the "Green Home Makeover" (GHM), worth thousands, is offered with the purchase of a $100 raffle ticket. The "GHM" starts with an audit and architectural consultation, followed by insulation, HVAC tune-up, solar elements, duct, window, and door sealing: all are improvements to reduce the home's carbon footprint and utility bill.

    Founded in 1985, the Alliance promotes fair, affordable, and environmentally responsible energy policy. Additionally, The Alliance advances a philosophy that there is no conflict between: lower energy costs and lower pollution, between good jobs and regulation, or between serving the public interest and making a reasonable profit. The AAE's policy work focuses on social justice, sustainable economic development, and environmental protection. In order to achieve its mission, the Alliance has three programs: Clean Energy, Consumer Protection and Education, and Energy Efficiency.
