All Encouraged To Attend Survivor Resource's Annual Walk-a-thon
Survivor Resources' annual Walk to Remember, Walk for Hope fundraiser is a great opportunity to bring together family, friends, co-workers and others of all ages to honor loved ones who passed unexpectedly.
- Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) April 18, 2014 - Walk to Remember, Walk for Hope is the 12th annual walk-a-thon to raise funds for Survivor Resources. The event will be held in St. Paul at the Como Park East Pavilion on Monday, May 19th. The walk-a-thon secures pledges for Survivor Resources' continuing effort to provide essential supportive services to those grieving the loss of someone who died as a result of homicide, suicide or accidental death.
This fundraiser is a great opportunity to bring together family, friends, co-workers and others of all ages to honor loved ones. Event activities feature fire trucks, squad cars, motorcycles, ambulance, K-9 police, SWAT equipment, mounted patrol and helicopters.
Divine Swine will be providing a picnic dinner starting at 6:00 p.m. and the walk will begin afterwards at 7:45 p.m. Closing ceremonies at dusk feature a moving candle lighting ceremony in memory of loved ones. Registration is through Monday, May 12th.
"Our annual walk-a-thon promotes our community's strength to hope and heal in the face of a loved one's unexpected death," says Margaret McAbee, the program's director. "The walk-a-thon not only brings us together, but also provides Survivor Resources necessary financial contributions, allowing us to continue providing free services to those in need."
In order to maintain its support services, Survivor Resource's goal is to raise $65,000 from Walk to Remember, Walk for Hope. A registration fee of $40 per event participant is requested. Walkers are encouraged to build a team and secure as many pledges as possible through help of local churches, employers, friends, family and neighbors. Last year's walk-a-thon generated $43,000, allowing Survivor Resources to continue its mission of helping the community. The registration fee includes access to all parts of the evening's event.

About Survivor Resources
Survivor Resources is a private, non-profit organization committed to providing immediate and long-term emotional support and practical help for the loved ones of those who has died by homicide, suicide or accident.
Survivor Resources is an advocate for grieving family and friends, offering crisis and emotional support and long-term, weekly group sessions. Beyond initial needs, the organization is present for the education, spiritual care and grief counseling of those affected by an unexpected death.
Survivor Resources exemplified its commitment to its services during the 2013 Lilydale landslide and the 2007 I-35 Bridge collapse. Survivor Resource's staff responded immediately, providing survivors and others affected with a support group shortly after these events.
The organization offers essential community services and can also serve as a liaison between police departments, county attorney's offices and grieving families. Its intentions are to reduce community anger and to focus on exuding grief in a positive, healing manner.
