All Aboard for the Bow Wow Express Holiday Festival Benefiting Austin Dog Alliance
The Bow Wow Express Holiday Festival on December 12 will benefit the nonprofit Austin Dog Alliance and provide an afternoon of family-friendly and dog-friendly entertainment.
- Austin-San Marcos, TX (1888PressRelease) December 12, 2013 - The Bow Wow Express Holiday Carnival gets underway at 12 noon on Sunday, December 15, offering Central Texas families - and their dogs - a great afternoon of games, train rides, crafts, food and more. The event will take place at the Austin Dog Alliance's beautiful seven-acre ranch located off North 183 at 1321 W. New Hope Drive in Cedar Park from noon until 4:00 p.m.
This will be the third year for the popular carnival. An optional donation of $20 per family is suggested, which will include:
• Train rides for people and dogs
• Carnival games
• Christmas cookie decorating
• Hot chocolate making bar
• Dog biscuit decorating
• Christmas ornament making
• Story time with the Bow Wow Reading Dogs
• Dog sport demonstrations
In addition, the carnival will include a variety of food and drink vendors, a professional photographer to take family photos, artisans, a caricature artist, vendor booths, a low-cost vaccination clinic and dogs available for adoption.
The Bow Wow Express Holiday Carnival is sponsored, in part, by Texas Trucking and Dragonfly Mechanical. All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Austin Dog Alliance, which provides children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other disabilities with dog-assisted programs that improve their ability to learn and reach their full potential. The Alliance also provides young adults with job training and placement programs to increase opportunities for meaningful employment with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.
About Austin Dog Alliance
Located in Cedar Park, Texas, Austin Dog Alliance, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, provides youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other disabilities with dog-assisted programs that improve their ability to learn and reach their full potential. Programs include social skill classes for children aged six to 15 and job training for young adults to increase opportunities for meaningful employment with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.
Austin Dog Alliance also provides therapy dog teams to local hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, assistance to at-risk readers at schools and libraries through its Bow Wow Reading Dog program, and a variety of after-school and summer camp programs at its seven-acre wooded facility, as well as human-dog training classes for beginners and advanced dog owners. The organization depends on donations to sustain and grow its community outreach programs.
