Many UK holiday makers are opting to stay in the UK with the Euro exchange rate at an all time low. One unexpected side-effect of the recession was the widespread shortage of rental cars in Portugal in the Summer of 2009. The situation is likely to be repeated in the Summer of 2010. Many people turning up at the Portuguese airports without a pre-booked car last Summer discovered that there were no rental cars available."
