- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 21, 2022 - Petroleum products such as transportation fuels and fuel oils are in nearly everything we use. To ensure their integrity, Alfa Chemistry's testing branch recently released the petroleum product testing service, analyzing the viscosity, flash point, density, pour point, CCR, and many other quality parameters for a wide range of petroleum products, including: crude oil, fuel oil, lubricating oil/grease, paraffin wax, asphalt, petroleum coke, etc.
In almost all petroleum product testing scenarios, the following items and procedures are performed:
Heavy Metal
Physical and Chemical Analysis
Content Analysis
Forbidden Substance Testing
Composition Analysis
Thermal Performance
"Years of experience in the analytical field enables us to choose the most appropriate testing methods to conduct professional customized analysis and standard technical procedures, allowing us to determine the quality of petroleum products and possible changes that may come up during their usage," stated the Marketing Chief of Alfa Chemistry Testing Lab. "In order to accurately analyze and characterize these petroleum products, we also consider the latest testing methods evolving with time and take into account the various environmental regulations."
Below are the major petroleum product types that can be tested by Alfa Chemistry:
Crude Oil, referring to gasoline, kerosene, diesel, heavy oil, and natural gas. Samples obtained from petroleum cargo tankers, reservoirs, pipelines, storage tanks, refineries, E&P projects, and other sources are acceptable.
Fuel Oil, a fraction obtained from petroleum distillation, either as a distillate or a residue. Gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and kerosene are the most commonly seen fuel oil types.
Lubricating Oil & Grease, composed of base oils and additives, are primarily used in motorized vehicles.
Paraffin Wax, a soft, colorless solid derived from petroleum, coal, or shale oil. According to the degree of refining, there are fully refined paraffin, semi-refined paraffin, and crude paraffin.
Petroleum Asphalt, a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid that is found in most petroleum crude oils and some natural deposits, is mainly used as infrastructure materials in transportation and construction.
Petroleum Coke, a byproduct of the oil refining process, is usually used in the manufacture of energy, steel, aluminum, automobiles, high-impact plastics, etc.
Familiar with ISO and ASTM test guidances, standards, and specifications, Alfa Chemistry Testing Lab is confident in its ability to conduct comprehensive petroleum product testing projects.
