THEIC (CAS No. 839-90-7), with the chemical name of 1,3,5-Tris(2-hydroxyethyl)cyanuric acid, is mainly used as an important raw material for the production of wire enamels. Owing to its excellent performance in heat resistance, flexibility, adhesiveness, hardness, and glossiness, it is also used as PVC heat stabilizer. Besides, THEIC can also be used in the production of various polyurethane plastics, water-based baking lacquer, unsaturated polyester resins, pesticides, water-soluble paints for electrodeposition coating, general oil-based paints, pharmaceutical intermediates as well as other aspects.

Statistics show that electrical insulation made with THEIC polyesters exhibit good dielectric properties in regard to adhesion, flexibility, heat shock, and heat aging. The THEIC–MR-phosphate improved the heat resistance of PVC materials. Paintings and coatings made with THEIC also exhibit good mechanical properties such as improved heat resistance and weather resistance.
