Alaskan Country Music Singer Doug Briney Rescues Fellow Snowmobile Rider After Shelter Collapse
During a group snowmobile ride with friends outside of Anchorage, Alaska, country music singer, Doug Briney rescues a fellow rider just hours after learning of a shelter collapse at his cabin.
- Anchorage, AK (1888PressRelease) March 01, 2012 - Just hours after learning that a shelter at his cabin outside of Anchorage, AK had collapsed, country music artist, Doug Briney was found rescuing a fellow snowmobile rider from a harrowing snow bridge collapse. The shelter, which housed some vehicles and machinery at Doug's cabin, had been crushed by more than twenty feet of snowfall.
After digging out from the damage, Doug and the group set out on their ride. Doug tells the story: "The ride went very well until we got to the river. I told the guys to follow me and stay on the trail. One of the guys decided to blaze his own trail. As I was motioning to him to get back in line, he dropped out of site. He had found a snow bridge that collapsed with his weight and the weight of his machine. Fortunately he was fine, and only his legs were wet as I made my way to him. He crawled out of the hole and I built a fire for him to warm up next too."
"I always carry a tow rope and come-along with my machines. So we anchored two machines together as a base and I crawled down in the hole to attach the rope to his machine. Standing in two foot of ice water I leaned over and began tying on the rope. I got the rope attached then climbed out of the hole and with the help of the other guys began to pull the machine out. It took us about a half hour to get it out." Luckily, nobody was injured in the accident.
This incident comes just days before the scheduled CD release party for Doug's debut album, "It's All Country, " which comes out on March 9, 2012. His single, "More Than Just a Farm" has been released to radio stations worldwide, with a music video about to begin shooting. It has been delayed by, you guessed it, snow.
