Akran and AMS support the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Akran and AMS taking action to honour and support the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and work towards reconciliation.
- (1888PressRelease) October 01, 2021 - As Canada marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Akran and Aboriginal Marketing Services (AMS), an indigenous promotional product branding company, are working to embrace reconciliation.
“Private businesses must unite to proactively stand against racism and to work towards reconciliation," said Raman Agarwal, founder and CEO of Akran Marketing, a leading speciality advertising and branding company with offices across Canada.
Akran and AMS are taking action to honour Indigenous people, survivors of the residential school system, their families and those who never came home by encouraging every employee to make a personal commitment to reconciliation. Both companies have granted employees 3 hours of paid leave to use towards live and virtual community events focusing on reconciliation. In a show of unity with indigenous people, they have donated orange shirts to every employee and the local community and have committed to mandatory, annual indigenous cultural awareness training.
The companies are donating money to three local Indigenous charities and looking for ways to engage with Indigenous entrepreneurs as part of their supply chain.
