AJCS Ranked 6th in the Middle East and North Africa in Think Tank Index
Covered 511 research centers in MENA.
- (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2014 - Arab - Capitals Al Jazeera Center for Studies (AJCS) has been ranked sixth on the list of the best research centers in the Middle East and North Africa, retaining the advanced status it achieved last year, despite the fact that the number of competing centers almost doubled during this period.
The development came as the annual rankings of the top research centers around the world were announced by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania. The event held to launch the report took place during the last week of January at the United Nations headquarters in New York and the World Bank in Washington, DC. It covered 511 research centers in the Middle East and North Africa.
Commenting on the rating, AJCS Director Dr. Salah Eddin Elzein said: "The center has maintained its ranking among the most influential research centers in the Middle East and North Africa, thanks to its intensive and distinguished production of research and provision of objective analyses and in-depth studies on developments in the Arab world and its neighborhood. In addition, the achievement is attributed to AJCS's interest in organizing forums of dialogue and discussion, including conferences, seminars and workshops, which bring together academics, experts and politicians representing different spectra."
Dr. Elzein said that AJCS will continue its research on the transformations taking place in the region, adding that the center will expand in the field of media studies, build research partnerships with prestigious research and academic institutions around the world and make its products available in English.
Director of Research at AJCS Dr. Ezzeddine Abdelmoula expressed his satisfaction with the ranking by stating: "The value of the index is derived from the University of Pennsylvania's strict criteria in the classification of important centers of influence in each region as well as the expertise of the jury, whose members exceeded 2000, comprising researchers, experts and decision makers from all over the world."
