AGIS offers rubberized tadpole tape for difficult gasketing configurations
Philadelphia area manufacturer/distributor of high temperature industrial sealing products adds line of rubberized tadpole tape gaskets for use in difficult gasketing configurations.
- (1888PressRelease) March 23, 2011 - A line of rubberized tadpole tape gaskets, designed for use in difficult gasketing configurations, is available from AGIS, LLC, manufacturer/distributor of high temperature industrial sealing products.
Tadpole tape, so-called because of its distinctive profile, consists of a core or bulb, which is the area that forms the gasketing seal; and a "tail," which is the adjoining strip used to fasten the gasketing in place. A heat-resistant cover material provides the insulation and seal; inside the core is a resilient material.
The unique construction is ideal for gasketing situations where limited bolting force is available or where the gasketing must conform to uneven or irregular surfaces. While the core is positioned over the sealing area, the tail can be fastened to a flange or door with rivets, bolts or metal straps.
AGIS Style 57G consists of a fiberglass rope core, covered by a tightly woven fiberglass cloth coated with an SBR rubber. The coating seeps into imperfections in the sealing surface and, when hardened, provides an airtight seal.
The product is most commonly used in boiler doors and other applications where an airtight seal is critical. Service conditions should not exceed temperatures and pressures of 380°F and 180 PSI, respectively.
