agencyQ Selected As Webby Awards Honoree For Repower America Website
Site developed for Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) July 10, 2010 - agencyQ, a Washington, D.C.-based digital marketing agency, announced that Repower America has been selected as an Official Honoree for the Activism category in The 14th Annual Webby Awards.
agencyQ developed the site, RepowerAmerica.org, as one of three sites for the Alliance for Climate Protection (ACP). Nobel Laureate and former Vice President of the United States Al Gore founded the non-profit ACP to address the urgency of the global climate crisis.
The Webby Awards, referred to as the "Internet's highest honor" by the New York Times, is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. As a result of the exceptional quality of submissions this year, the Academy has recognized outstanding entries as Official Honorees alongside Nominees and Winners. The Official Honoree distinction is awarded to the top 15% of all work entered that exhibits remarkable achievement. This year nearly 10,000 entries were received from all 50 states and over 60 countries.
RepowerAmerica.org is the public brand for ACP and its clean energy campaign, launched by Al Gore during his 2008 speech calling for a new U.S. energy policy. To help ACP connect with and inspire people to get involved, agencyQ integrated Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr into the website. Through these social media platforms ACP can broadcast news and developments in real time to more than five million members. In turn members can further share and engage with others to help build grass roots momentum and legislative support.
