The awards night is organised by MEED, which partnered with Gulf Capital four years ago as the headline sponsor, to recognise UAE's SMEs, business leaders and, entrepreneurs for innovation, growth and success.

Considered as one of the most esteemed awards handed out to SMEs in the Middle East, the Gulf Capital SME Awards is presented by the leading economic digest in the Middle East, MEED, and the largest alternative asset management company in UAE, Gulf Capital. MEED and Gulf Capital selects and nominates outstanding SMEs for the Online Business of the Year award based on their performance and relevance in the Middle Eastern economy.

The judging panel of this year's awards includes some of UAE's most committed supporters of SMEs. These are Rabea Ataya (CEO of Bayt.com), Clare Woodcraft-Scott (CEO of Emirates Foundation), Nader Henein (Regional Director of Blackberry Security), and Essam Disi (Senior Manager of Strategy and Policy of Dubai SME).
