After the 8 Weeks RIM Deal, Chika Nwaogu Returns to LAGbook as Co-CEO, Dismisses 8 More
Following the End of a successful 8 weeks advertising deal with Research In Motion (Blackberry) Nigeria, Chidi Nwaogu, CEO at LAGbook, announced that his twin brother and Co-founder is returning to the management of LAGbook as Co-CEO, after being away for almost 6 months as LAGbook's Non-Executive Chairman.
- (1888PressRelease) August 14, 2012 - After a successful 8 weeks advertising campaign for Research In Motion (Blackberry) Nigeria, which ended on Sunday, 12th August, 2012, Chidi Nwaogu said Chika Nwaogu is returning to the LAGbook Management effective today as Co-CEO.
Following the return of Chika Nwaogu, he dismisses 8 more team members, cutting down the team size from 15 to only 7. Before Chika's return, Chidi had already began a team reorganization, which saw the team size drop from 25 to 15 in less than two weeks.
According to Chika, Co-founder and Co-CEO at LAGbook, "I don't like working with a large number of people. I believe it breeds incompetency and heavy dependency, so I'm letting go of 8 already. Chidi wants a team of 5, so why wait when we can start laying off right away. Many team members may call me a tyrant, but that's okay."
Chika continued, "Chidi wants a merger in similar job responsibilities and I think that's what we need at the moment. The dismissal is nothing personal. We are simply trying to put similar job responsibilities together. We don't want some team members hiding under other's glory."
LAGbook will be letting go of Edomwonyi Ojo (VP, Legal and Corporate Affairs), Ayobami Adebayo (VP, Risk and Asset Management), Onyelo Kingsley (VP, Technology), Jake Adebayo (VP, Publicity), Prudence Okoilu (VP, Advertising Services), Pelumi Adesina (Director of Security and Privacy Control), Michael Osahon (Senior Engineer), and Nelson Asegiemhe (Senior Engineer).
Below is the new structure of the LAGbook Team:
Chidi Nwaogu - Co-CEO and Co-President
Chika Nwaogu - Co-CEO and Co-President
Josh Osemwegie - Vice President, Finance
Emmanuel Alugo - Vice President, Technology
John Nwaogu Jr. - Vice President, Human Resource
Amara Nwaogu - Vice President, Customer Support
Nosa Ilegbinehi - Vice President, Publicity
Josh Osemwegie becomes Vice President, Finance (a position he once held before becoming LAGbook's President), and takes over the responsibility of Risk and Asset Management. Emmanuel Alugo becomes Vice President, Technology, and takes over the responsibility of Security and Privacy Control. Nosa Ilegbinehi becomes Vice President, Publicity, and takes over responsibility of Advertising Services.
"This is not the final reorganization. I'm still looking at a team of 5 once we're 1,000,000 members strong and I have made my intentions known to the staying team members.", said Chidi Nwaogu.
