Vistasol Medical Group CEO, Dr. Afshin Shawn Adhami was nominated again in 2013 for the Los Angeles Business Journal Healthcare Leadership Awards.
- (1888PressRelease) May 26, 2013 - Los Angeles, CA - On April 18, 2013, the Los Angeles Business Journal held its annual Healthcare leadership awards at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
The Healthcare Leadership Awards recognize individuals and organizations in the city that have excelled as leaders in healthcare delivery and research.
In 2012, Dr A. Shawn Adhami was the only individual to be nominated in two different categories: Life Time Achievement Award and Medical Group CEO Award which he won. In 2013 he was again nominated in that category making him the only individual to have made it as a finalist two years in a row. Dr. Adhami was joined by members of his family, friends and staff.
Dr. Adhami is a practicing Internal Medicine physician. He is the founding CEO and Medical Director of Vistasol Medical and Dental group in Montebello as well as Morelia Medical Clinic in El Monte. His staff which include a supervising Pediatrician, an Ob/Gyn physician, and three Physician Assistants, take pride in family centered approach to healthcare. Dr. Adhami whose passion is in taking care of the elderly, sees patients at his clinics and local hospitals. His skills as a physician has earned him various other awards in the past including: Consumers' Research Council of America- America's Top Physicians 2012, Patients' Choice Award by American Registry in 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012, Most Compassionate Doctor in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and Healthgrades 5 star doctor in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
In December of 2011, Dr. Adhami was elected as Chief of Staff at Monterey Park Hospital where he has been credited for leading a program that has helped improve patient satisfaction scores at the hospital. Previously he had served in various leadership roles including: Chief of Department of Medicine, Governing Board Member, Treasurer and Chair of Information Resource Management.
Dr. Shawn Adhami has demonstrated his skills as a physician as well as an extraordinary leader in Healthcare throughout his life. His commitment to social responsibility and community service is another reason for him being highly regarded amongst his colleagues and patients. While in high school, he started to volunteer at UCLA Hospital Emergency Room. That experience opened his heart to people's suffering. It also instilled a passion in him to become a doctor. Since becoming a doctor he has offered his time as a volunteer on numerous occasions.
He has been able to turn failing and failed clinics into successful operations. Shawn has achieved this by focusing on care and compassion and by superb management skills. He has in turn used his success to offer low cost or no cost care to his low income patients. He has been able to do so without any special assistance from the state or county.
In addition to above, Dr Adhami finds the time to teach future health care providers at USC. He is a clinical instructor at USC School of Physician Assistants Program and teaches students at his clinics. His previous students have moved on to great careers in medicine.
