Adelphi University to Offer a Leadership Development Program for Nonprofit Professionals
The program will allow nonprofit professionals to work on personal leadership development, as well as leadership in their organizations and communities.
- Nassau-Suffolk, NY (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2010 - Adelphi University is pleased to introduce a one-of-a-kind training program for professionals in the nonprofit sector, Learning to Lead: Within Yourself, Your Organization, Your Community. The innovative nine-month program will run from October 2010 to May 2011. A full-day orientation session will take place on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A final session in June will be followed by a graduation luncheon and ceremony.
The program features hands-on learning opportunities and focuses on "doing and discussing," along with "showing and telling." The program will allow nonprofit professionals to work on personal leadership development, as well as leadership in their organizations and communities. The focus on leadership is extremely valuable, and is tailored to non-profits more so than other common management programs. Participants will come away with greater communication, financial management, fundraising, and marketing skills, among other essential expertise. Upon completion, they will receive a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Adelphi University.
The faculty will be comprised of practitioners who have first-hand knowledge of the non-profit sector. They will be able to offer their own perspectives on the importance of building leadership, which is critical for the sector today.
The program was designed to accommodate professionals' busy schedules, with half-day sessions taking place once-a-month, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Optional networking luncheons will follow each session. All meetings will be located at the University's Garden City campus, 1 South Avenue, Garden City NY.
