  • Nassau-Suffolk, NY (1888PressRelease) March 04, 2014 - The Adelphi University Exhibitions Program presents David Hornung: Recent Paintings, featuring over a dozen oil paintings on panel in the Ruth S. Harley Univessity Center Gallery. The exhibition will be on view from February 26 through April 2, 2014, with a reception open to the public on Wednesday, March 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Additionally, Hornung will host an artist's talk on Tuesday, March 11th at 4:15 pm within the gallery surrounded by his work.

Author of the book Color: a workshop for artists and designers, Hornung's background as a color theorist informs much of his work. Every day objects have become an inherent part of the artist's vocabulary, due to their timeless, and familiar nature. Hornung constructs his paintings to produce ambiguous narratives that aim to simultaneously elucidate intellectual, and emotional resonances.

David Hornung has taught painting, drawing, and color at a number of art schools and universities including Indiana University, Parsons, Pratt, Skidmore College, Brooklyn College, and the Rhode Island School of Design. He currently teaches in the Department of Art and Art History at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.

The Ruth S. Harley University Center Gallery is open everyday, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To learn more about the artists and view glimpses of the exhibition please visit:
