From her own addiction, codependent relationship and clinical experience, Dr. Sarah Michaud helps with embracing a new life.
I lost myself and found myself many times—hopefully, to be solid enough now to not get lost again or at least find my way back more quickly.
(1888PressRelease) December 29, 2021 - BOSTON - Growing up in a family with alcoholism eventually led Dr. Sarah Michaud into a downward spiral of drug and alcohol addiction. Her harrowing journey and inspiring recovery are the basis for her new book, Co-Crazy.
Michaud has spent the last 25 years as a clinical psychologist specializing in addiction and co-dependency. After celebrating 20 years of sobriety, Michaud was faced with the unthinkable. Her husband had relapsed into active addiction and she was desperate to save him. Despite her training and expertise, Michaud found herself trying to navigate a relationship with an active addict and all the subsequent feelings of hopelessness and despair.
In Co-Crazy, Michaud takes readers through her life changing journey to sobriety and codependency recovery and the overwhelming experience of trying to save and change another. Her authenticity and vivid descriptions truly allow the readers to see the devastation that addiction can cause and the possibility for freedom and happiness whether the person changes or not.
Michaud said, "I lost myself and found myself many times—hopefully, to be solid enough now to not get lost again or at least find my way back more quickly."
Co-Crazy outlines a step-by-step guide for recovery from one of our culture's most pervasive and insidious problems. The book also looks into relationships where people feel stuck and responsible for a loved one's unhealthy behavior. It offers guidance for setting boundaries and standing up for oneself.
Co-Crazy identifies unconscious feelings and gives readers the tools to begin to speak for themselves and learn how to tolerate "feeling states." Co-Crazy is about facing the truth and embracing a new life.
Written for anyone trying to save, fix or change another, whether it is a child, spouse, relative or friend, Co-Crazy will transform the profound and debilitating effects of co-dependency to a life of authenticity, laughter, openness and peace. Co-Crazy can be purchased online through SDP Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other retailers.
