ACS launches the new ACR1222L VisualVantage NFC Reader with LCD

A feature-rich reader, ACR1222L is designed to provide flexibility and enhance user experience in contactless applications. NFC is finally taking off, with the launch of a number of NFC smart phones and the ballooning use of the technology in applications like payment, mass-transit, ticketing and access control. The new ACR1222L is in USB interface while an upgraded version of ACS's first LCD-equipped NFC Reader, the ACR122L, is in serial interface. Developed based on the 13.56 MHz RFID technology and ISO 18092 NFC standard, the ACR1222L supports not only ISO 14443 Type A and B, MifareŽ cards, but also FeliCa and all 4 types of NFC tags. With its PC/SC compliance for both contactless cards and Secure Access Module (SAM) interfaces, it can work with most NFC platforms and systems. Furthermore, ACR1222L has a built-in SAM slots for enhanced security, as well as USB firmware upgradability for easy migration of applications to support new cards. It also has built-in anti-collision mechanism and direct card type polling commands to limit access to a certain card when multiple contactless cards are presented to the device. Moreover, the ACR1222L boasts a faster response to cards, has clear operation indicators via its 2-line graphic LCD, 4 LED's and a buzzer. The device is particularly suitable for applications such as payment and customer loyalty programs.
