Acne-Plauged Teen Famous for Youtube Makeup Routine Finds Herself on Fashion-Week Runway MariaPuente.Com
Cassandra Bankson banks on her Youtube success.
- (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2012 - San Francisco, CA - YouTube sensation, Cassandra Bankson, the young teen who chronicles her makeup routine to cover up her acne-prone skin, has found herself in a place she never dreamed of walking the runway during New York Fashion Week.
Bankson walked the runway at the Stacey Igel "Boy Meets Girl" show at New York Fashion Week. This was just the first step in putting her past of being bullied for her acne-ridden skin behind her. This small town girl is living a dream that many wish they could be apart of. Bankson knows that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and is "is thankful" for the experience.
At 19 years of age, Bankson first found her fame through posting makeup tutorials on YouTube. In these how-to pieces, Bankson showed the world what she had to do to cover her acne ridden skin before heading out the door. Currently, Bankson has over 45 million views of her YouTube tutorials. She often talks to her viewers first in full makeup and then slowly removes the makeup revealing her pimples and blemishes. Bankson said that she had no idea that so many people had the same problems. The videos and an appearance on the show "Good Morning America" have allowed her to really connect to her YouTube fans.
Bankson stated in her interview for GMA that she was bullied and tormented because of her appearance and hated to leave the house. She often stayed at home, researching and trying different makeup techniques on herself. She also took her time at home to focus on her studies and subsequently graduated two years early. "I was a total recluse," said Bankson.
Bankson, who resides in California, says that her condition is now about 70% improved. Now in her second year of college she is inspired to pursue a career in dermatology in order to help others who suffer as she did. She wants to continue to model. Besides her walk on the runway for Fashion Week, Bankson has already worked on ads for the brands Bebe and Range Rover. "Models shouldn't be modeling perfection because there is no such thing, " she stated. "We should be modeling ourimperfections."
