- (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2020 - "Access-IS, the leading supplier of contactless barcode, RFID/NFC and EMV payment devices, is pleased to announce the OEM integration of its TripTick® ATR2XX with CCM's self-service solutions including its innovative Cabin Baggage Sizer and Baggage Repack Station.
Over the last few years we have all seen the move towards self-service and now, more than ever, its use is critical in helping to get air travel back on the road to recovery. Not only does automation improve passenger flow and reduce person to person contact, it helps place the passenger firmly in charge of their own experience, all while reducing operational overheads.
These solutions are already installed at Hamad International Airport in Doha (Qatar) and in Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Both CCM solutions have been designed to be capable of being installed for a client with corporate branding or for an airport operator where they can cater for multiple airlines. In both circumstances, the Access-IS boarding pass / ticket reader is critical. When a passenger approaches an airline agnostic Bag Sizer or Repack Station, they scan their boarding pass from a printed ticket, their phone or even their smart watch, the ticket information prompts the station to load their particular airlines baggage and boarding policies for the class of ticket presented.
If a passenger is aware that their bag is too large or heavy, they can go directly to the Packing Station. If not, they can place their luggage on the Bag Sizer, where a sensor mesh automatically measures and weighs the bag. Thanks to its ability to be self-powered, the Bag Sizer can be located at the boarding gate for baggage off-loading, at check-in or even at the kerb side. If the bag is only slightly overweight, then an excess baggage charge can be levied and paid before the bag tag is printed. Using the Bag Sizer at the boarding gate speeds up the off-loading of hand baggage and ensures that all luggage carries printed bag tags.
