Access-IS announce the OEM integration of its TripTick ticket reader and ATOM ADR300 document scanner with CCM's Hybrid Self Service Bag-Drop counter
Access-IS is pleased to announce the OEM integration of its TripTick® ATR2XX ticket reader and ATOM® ADR300 document scanner with CCM's Hybrid Self Service Bag-Drop counter.
- (1888PressRelease) August 26, 2020 - Rather than choosing lines of either manned or unmanned counters, airport operators can configure the check-in hall according to the needs of that hour, day, week or even flight. The number of manned counters required increases when leisure travel is highest and falls away when business travel peaks.
As a true hybrid, the CCM counter can be manned one minute and automated the next. Not only does automation improve passenger flow and reduce person to person contact, it helps place the passenger firmly in charge of their own experience, all while reducing operational overheads. In some cases, manned counters are still a necessity; this solution delivers the best of both worlds.
In many airports, there are numerous manned check-in counters that sit empty for most of the day but are essential at other times. This represents significant lost capacity, which if converted using the CCM solution could be switched to self-service when needed, freeing up space, reducing the passenger processing time and preserving the existing signage and queueing infrastructure.
Already installed at Rome Fiumicino Airport and at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, each hybrid counter is fitted with two Access-IS devices. A TripTick® barcode and RFID/NFC reader to capture ticket information from the passengers boarding pass and an ATOM® ID Document Reader, enabling the passenger to self-scan their passport.
TripTick is designed to read RFID/NFC tickets or tokens and 1D/2D barcodes from mobile phones, tablets, wearables, contactless cards and paper from a single point of presentation and in any orientation. TripTicks low profile design, only 36.9mm was absolutely critical in allowing C.C.M. to design and build such an elegant and sleek solution with its installation in the elevating leg of the unit.
The ATOM Document Reader is a state-of-the-art, multi-function Check-In reader. It incorporates OCR reading with optional biometric data capture of the documents chip information.
One of the key features of both Access-IS products is their small form factor, simple installation and high levels of performance. These have helped CCM design a solution that takes up the same footprint as the existing check-in counter and in many cases less.
Speaking about the installation, David Richardson, CCM Technology Director said “The Access-IS ticket reader combines reading of multiple technologies into a single point of presentation making for an intuitive passenger experience” He continued “Its small size and low profile make it extremely easy for us to integrate into our solutions where space is often at a premium.”
