Acca Signs MOU With CII To Promote University-industry Linkages For Better Employment Opportunities
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) to promote excellence in the sphere of higher education and support university-industry linkages for better human resource and research.
- (1888PressRelease) November 14, 2013 - The MoU was signed by Mr. Anjan Das, Executive Director, CII and Ms Lucia Real-Martin, Director - Emerging Markets (Asia), ACCA.
The MoU aims for enhancing the availability of skilled workforce in the country by raising awareness among the academia to collaborate with the industry. A closer collaboration between industry and institutions of higher education will ensure better skill sets and job-oriented training for students.
Following this agreement, CII, a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization and ACCA, a global body for professional accountants, agreed to develop framework to measure industry linkages with academic institutions to improve the quality of higher education and match the needs of the business and corporate recruiters.
Ms Lucia Real-Martin, Director - Emerging Markets (Asia), ACCA, said, "We are delighted to be associated with CII. Our main objective of signing this MoU is to sync educational institutes with industry requirements to make the freshers ready for work and provide them with quality job opportunities. We agree to develop case studies and statistical reports to promote awareness among the educational institutes to collaborate with the industry. "
Mr. Aziz Tayyebi, Head of International Development, ACCA, who was also present on the occasion said, "India has one of the largest higher education systems in the world and it aspires to transform millions of youngsters from across the world into educated global citizens. ACCA's collaboration with CII to promote higher education and university-industry linkages will enable us to make a positive and practical impact on the quality of employment generation in the country."
Linking education with the business needs is a crucial step which needs to remain at the forefront to motivate the students and enhance their leadership skills.
