    The student program, developed by Abram Jimenez while serving as Castle Park and Scripps Ranch Assistant Principal, was based on the goal of peer tutors providing assistance to students in areas such as awareness, readiness within in the A-G curriculum.

    The A-G curriculum, utilized throughout San Diego County, offers rigorous courses designed to prepare students in middle and high school with essential skills for college and career. These courses can take the form of traditional academic course or career-technical education courses, both of which teach essential skills.

    Abram Jimenez is reaching out to advise other educators of the benefits of implementing this type of student program and that peer tutoring is beneficial and can enhance educational outcomes, including increased academic performance.     The program helped the younger students to gain a better understanding of what was required for a successful high school career and allowed the tutors the opportunity to share their experience and help others. Studies have shown that students who participate in the type of programs, like the tutor program initiated by Assistant Principal Abram Jimenez, stayed in school longer, were absent less frequently, and performed better in class than students not in a peer tutor program.

Abram Jimenez earned a Bachelor's Degree from UCLA and earned both his teaching and administrative credentials from the University of San Diego.
