(1888PressRelease) October 03, 2011 - Chula Vista, CA - Abram Jimenez, Assistant Principal is a life-long educator that is prompting fellow educators to consider implementing a system of student intervention to ensure students receive their high school diploma and graduate high school by completing the rigorous A-G curriculum to be accepted to CSU and UC campuses using the RTI (Response To Intervention) model. RTI is a national program adapted to meet the needs of students at Castle Park High School by Abram Jimenez as Assistant Principal of Castle Park High School.
The student program, coordinated by Abram Jimenez while serving at Castle Park Assistant Principal, was focused on student meeting state content standards. Rigorous implementation of RTI includes a combination of high quality, culturally and linguistically responsive instruction; assessment; and evidence-based intervention. Comprehensive RTI implementation will contribute to more meaningful identification of learning and behavioral problems, improve instructional quality, provide all students with the best opportunities to succeed in school, and assist with the identification of learning disabilities and other disabilities.
RTI integrates student assessment and instructional intervention. RTI is a framework for providing comprehensive support to students and is not an instructional practice. RTI is a prevention oriented approach to linking assessment and instruction that can inform educators' decisions about how best to teach their students. A goal of RTI is to minimize the risk for long-term negative learning outcomes by responding quickly and efficiently to documented learning or behavioral problems and ensuring appropriate identification of students with disabilities. RTI can be used to both maximize student achievement and reduce behavioral problems.
The program initiated and coordinated by Castle Park Assistant Principal Abram Jimenez generated incredible results.
The program assisted students gain an understanding of what was required for a successful high school career. As a result of this RTI program initiated by Assistant Principal Abram Jimenez, students stayed in school longer, were absent less frequently, and performed better in class than students that were not.
