- Salt Lake City-Ogden, UT (1888PressRelease) March 28, 2015 - AAPC (www.aapc.com), the leading provider of education and professional certification to medical coders, announced that the Concord, MA-based Libman Education has been recognized as an Approved Education Provider. The designation identifies Libman Education as an approved provider of training and education for AAPC's Certified Outpatient Coder (COC™) and Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC™) credentials. AAPC, which currently has a membership base of more than 140,000 worldwide has expanded beyond its original charter of outpatient coding to include training and credentials in inpatient hospital/facility coding, medical billing, documentation and coding audits, regulatory compliance, and physician practice management.
"We are pleased to welcome Libman Education as an Approved Education Provider," said Raemarie Jimemez, AAPC's vice president of membership and certification. "They are recognized as experts and thought leaders in inpatient/facility coding, and their commitment to provide online CIC™ and COC™ exam prep courses with personal mentoring will ensure that candidates sitting for the exams will have received the 'gold standard' in preparation and training."
Susan Pepple, COO of Libman Education, commented, "Libman Education was very gratified to receive the Approved Education Provider designation. Our mission at Libman Education is first and foremost to advance coding as a profession and to maintain the highest standards in training. We were thoroughly impressed with AAPC's commitment to improve inpatient/facility coding education and were gratified we could collaborate to raise the already high standards."
In addition to providing CIC™ and COC™ prep courses utilizing the AAPC curriculum, Pepple indicated that Libman Education's entire library of over 50 courses will be awarded AAPC Continuing Education Units (CEUs), including Libman Education's new Medical Coder Career Program (MCCP) - Facility-based Coder - which equips aspiring and experienced medical coders for a successful coding career. The six course curriculum prepares one to sit for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA), CIC™, and COC™ certification exams. It is designed to meet the growing challenges of hospitals dependent on coders to ensure valid codes are applied to medical diagnoses and procedures to facilitate reimbursement, analyze patient outcomes, and support research.
