  • (1888PressRelease) August 29, 2011 - INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Kristen Forbes EVE Foundation, Marion County Public Health Department and the Indiana Fever WNBA basketball team have joined forces to fight HPV and cervical cancer. At a recent Indiana Fever basketball game, the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) which sponsored the evening made a special announcement. The MCPHD has chosen the HPV vaccine to focus on this year to fight cervical cancer. The initiative is punctuated by the story of 23 year old Kristen Forbes who lost her life to HPV caused cervical cancer.

    At the arena entrance fans were welcomed by a life size poster with Kristen's photo along with Indiana Fever Guard Jeanette Pohlen. Kirk and Brenda Forbes and Virginia A. Caine, MD - Director of the MCPHD delivered the game ball to the referee. During the halftime break, several thousand Indiana Fever fans viewed the 30 second PSA video "Every Shot Counts".     This new collaboration of the Marion County Public Health Department, the Indiana Fever Team and the Kristen Forbes EVE Foundation creates a formidable team to fight this disease.
