- (1888PressRelease) October 02, 2013 - About the Book:
As Nero's Rome burns, Christ's brother, Simon, and Pontius Pilate's daughter, Clodia, are thrown together in the deadly war between Rome and Jerusalem. Their son, Joshua, is the biological link to Jesus, a genetic inheritance that makes him a target of evil, destructive forces.
Can Simon and Clodia save the blood line of the House of David from Satanist who are determined to kill the child?
A marvellously rich recreation of the world's first Christians and Nero's Rome.
A gripping historical adventure and an epic love story.
About the Author:
Peter R. Hall retired in 1993 to write, paint and travel more, following a career in marketing with Unilever and sales with Allied Domecq. Peter has held one-man exhibitions and sold his paintings in Australia and UK and he continues to paint commissions. "Guardians of the Jesus Gene" is Peter's first published work of historical fiction, to be followed by its sequel entitled "To The Death" which will be published by Thames River Press in Spring 2014. Books three and four are currently being written.
Excerpt from the book:
"There were some that ventured into the corpse-strewn hills of the salt sea to cast nets across its stinking waters and reap a ghastly harvest. They did so without fear of encountering the Romans, who had long since left the killing ground. The scavengers who fished this foul sea had no fear of the pestilence, for they held every disease known to man in absolute contempt being already inflicted with the most hideous - leprosy.
What these fishers sought was meagre enough - a pair of sandals, a few coins, a brooch, a weapon, a useful farm tool - any items that could be sold, if a buyer could be found!
When the corpses were fresher and if they were young and female, they could be abused, for the sin of necrophilia did not carry much weight with human beings cast out of society and driven away by stones if they ventured near even the humblest dwelling.
In this society of pariahs leadership went to the strong, and length of office was determined by the speed at which that strength was literally eaten away by the living death of their disease. The end came when they were no longer capable of scavenging enough food or water to sustain life."
