A Free Taste As Author Gives Away His Latest Work Via His Website
Jay Carter Brown author of Smuggler's Blues and Payback tells of his e-publishing experience.
- (1888PressRelease) January 22, 2012 - In a bold move to promote his newest book, Jay Carter Brown has released the entire first half of his novel, Operation Payback, for free on his jay carter brown website.
"I wondered why my first book was selling well and the second was not, so I looked at the differences", he said. "My first book, Smugglers Blues, was released in hard copy where as my latest title was self-published and released as an e-book. The hard copy book was advertised and promoted by the publisher including free samples to book stores and free copies that were sent to professional book reviewers. The only advertising my e-book receives is from my website where I have included a sample chapter. At first I focused on that sample chapter wondering if it gave the right feel for the rest of the novel.
I toyed with the idea of picking a different chapter that highlighted some of the more controversial characters from the story. And then I came to a simple truth. Why not post the entire first half of Operation Payback on my website for free. If readers like what they read in the first half of the novel they might not mind shelling out $2.99 for the second half."
Jay Carter Brown invites everyone to visit his website where there are samples of his books and novels as well as cannabis cooking recipes, travel logs to various places and adventurous stories from the author's youth. It will be interesting to see if Jay Brown's internet gamble will pay off in greater sales.
