A Dose of Classic Rock and Blues On Honey Child's Debut Album Riverland
Classic rock, blues, country, and jazz legends heavily influenced Honey Child's debut album Riverland.
- (1888PressRelease) September 11, 2011 - There is brightness in hope, there's a reason for everything, and we all go through life essentially overcoming and adapting to its speed and to our personal challenges.
That's how band Honey Child describes its first album 'Riverland' - a record about adapting to change, learning to love, and overcoming challenges. There's a fire of optimism with its collection of 10 original songs and it's not surprising since its creators are equally as positive and hopeful - qualities that are quite rare these days.
Honey Child is Scotty Burton, Paul Malinowski, and Wayne Hawkins, who all hail from Kansas City. They got their band name from New York City, though. How so? See, back in the day - way back, from the 1940s-1960s, people who worked in sandwich shops used to say to a customer who just ate and left the shop with 'You come back now, honey child'. With music backgrounds in rock, blues, jazz, bluegrass, country, and big band, the trio has also been staples in other rock bands before their involvement with Honey Child. They cite greats John Coltrane, Merle Travis, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Tony Rice, Led Zeppelin, and Count Basie as big influences on their brand of music, and artists Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Keith Jarret, Pat Matheny, and AC/DC as their favorites. Imagine a cocktail of those sounds in Honey Child - it's a riveting music riot!
For the creation of the record 'Riverland' Honey Child immersed in the process with much vigor and vitality. They dub it an 'honest musical recording completed without egos interfering with the outcome'. Indeed, the result is wonderfully succinct yet ever-enduring.
Honey Child are now building relationships with their fans, not only connecting with them through their music but personally as well. And they want to impart a message: 'Never give up the fight. Always express yourself, never suppress yourself'. Noted, Honey Child.
Honey Child's debut album 'Riverland' is ready for download at iTunes distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves, a partner of Universal Music Group.
