Heroes of the Nation will launch a campus in Nairobi, Kenya for 1,000 orphans. The self-sufficient orphanage model is groundbreaking in its vision to bring lasting transformation to Africa.
The ever growing number of AIDS orphans demands a new approach to the way that orphanage campuses are structured.
(1888PressRelease) February 01, 2010 - Heroes of the Nation, the largest orphanage in Kenya, is in the planning stages to launch a new campus in Nairobi that will be like none other on earth. The future Heroes Empowerment Campus will be a self-sufficient, leadership training model that will care for 1,000 orphans as well as showcase pioneering ideas in the areas of renewable energy, economic development, free online education, technology distribution, micro and macro business, and responsible agricultural technology.
Andrew Sievright, founder and president of Heroes of the Nation, is pioneering this concept of large-scale self-sufficient campuses. A businessman and entrepreneur, he brings experience and insight into business development that generates revenue for orphanages and benefits local economies.
In addition to an orphanage, the Heroes Empowerment Campus will include a 300 student leadership college, television and radio-broadcasting center, medical center, wild animal park, hotel and business park. The business park will include over thirty small businesses acting as revenue-generating sources that will serve as teaching labs for future entrepreneurs.
This orphanage campus model is revolutionary in its scope. Andrew Sievright developed the model after seeing the crisis of children at risk in Africa as well as the need for a new approach to economic development. He has observed, "The ever growing number of AIDS orphans demands a new approach to the way that orphanage campuses are structured. We must find new vehicles for human transformation, establishing technological, environmental and social solutions to influence communities, cities and nations." Through its self-sustainable model, the Heroes Empowerment Campus can truly be replicated all over the world.
