Sixth Grade Mason, Ohio, Student Qualifies for Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) with Mr. DiSalvo's SAT and ACT Tutoring.
For a young student to have a good chance at the PSAT/NMSQT scholarship is something special.
Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN (1888PressRelease) June 09, 2013 - A+ Tutoring is pleased to announce the entrance of two new Cincinnati students into the 99th Percentile Club. One, a student at Seven Hills Preparatory School, though not being able to complete Michael DiSalvo's program entirely, still managed to score a 33 in his first ACT administration. "He wasn't able to meet for tutoring for the minimum recommended amount of hours, but his attention to the techniques allowed him to score even perfectly on the Reading Test and do very well on the others portions of the ACT . Not having a PSAT score or a diagnostic score that would presage this sort of accomplishment, the student did consistently get his work done for me," Mr. DiSalvo said. Tutor and student hope to meet again to focus on the SAT.
A+ Tutoring is now offering special programs for hopeful National Merit Scholars before the October adminstration their junior year. Mr DiSalvo was quoted saying, "I enjoy helping students in their junior and senior years give the SAT and ACT their best effort using my system, but for a student to have a chance at the PSAT/NMSQT awards or the Duke Talent Search program is something special."
The announcement came soon after a Mason student was able to enter the select group of about other 300 sixth grade students nationwide who were able to score into the 99th percentile on the Explorer test, a more basic form of the PLAN test given to students in high school in preparation for the ACT. Now, with a chance for the student to take the qualifying SAT to enter the elite summer program, Mr DiSalvo will work with him with a special focus on the Math section. He continued, "We were in a rush to focus on the Reading, Science, and English Test in the last month of preparation before the Explorer test, as we were focusing on expanding his great math abilities. In short order, I showed him the steps I teach other students for the relevant sections, and we were able to complete enough to get the job done."
