  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) April 16, 2009 - The 9th annual FirstGlance Film Fest Hollywood runs from Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 3rd at Raleigh Studios Chaplin Theater, 5300 Melrose Ave., Hollywood, CA and showcases over 30 award winning indie films starring some of your favorite actors plus the brightest up and coming actors and directors just breaking into the business. Screening times are 8:00 p.m. Friday night and 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This independent, bi-coastal festival showcases feature and short narratives, documentaries and mini-docs, animation, music videos and student shorts from all genres. With a new online shorts contest, FirstGlance brings more of the best indie shorts to audiences right as home as well.

    The festival kicks off with the FirstNight screening on May 1st of the feature film, Saving God starring Dean McDermott and Ving Rhames, the short narrative Collector starring the late Brad Renfro, Outsource starring the Ring 2’s Kelly Overton, the short narrative Step Seven starring Ian Ziering, the animated short, The Eyes of Silence, and Anatomy of Numbers.

    The Saturday, May 2nd Early Screening at 3:30 p.m. features the North American premiere of ALBA, the student short UH-OH, the music video You Got That Light from musicians Wade Allain-Marcus & David Baum, and the feature documentary Leave No Soldier. The Twilight Screening at 5:30 p.m. features Twilight’s Robert Pattinson in the feature How To Be, the music video Get Your Ass On, and the short narrative Refrigerator. The Late Screening at 8:00 p.m. features the short narratives Psycho Hillbilly Cabin Massacre and SICK, plus the feature debut from award winning writer/ director Kathilynn Phillips, Chasing the White Dragon.

    The Sunday, May 3rd Early Screening at 3:30 p.m. features the short narratives Doppelganger and The Hate plus the feature documentary CONNECT USA. The Twilight Screening at 5:30 features the mini-doc Push Button House starring Francis Ford Coppola, James Rosenquist, and Martha Stewart, the short narratives La Tangente, GONE FISHING, FLYING LESSONS, Light Years, and the mini-doc Going All Pro: The story of Fancy Clancy, The Beer Man. The Closing Night Screening at 8:00 p.m. features the animated short E1even Roses, the Shorts 2 Interpretation, the short narrative Lollipops, the feature Balancing the Books starring Dina Meyer, Vincent Spano, Lea Thompson, Lela Rochon, Ed Begley; Jr., Ernie Hudson, and Tess Harper plus the first ever online shorts contest winner as voted by registered viewers at www.firstglancefilms.com. Voting for the online shorts contest takes place until May 1st.
