Starting in 1979 Maharishi promoted Ayurveda throughout the world as a holistic, scientific system of natural health care for the prevention and cure of diseases, the preservation of health, and the promotion of longevity. He developed a World Plan for Perfect Health, which is a comprehensive and universally applicable, economically self-sufficient programme of health-care based on the principles of Ayurveda.
